Spaghetti Sauce

My g'ma was a fabulous cook. I still remember going to her house in the summer time and her, my g'pa and myself making homemade ravioli's and laying them on the bed to dry. We would make 42 dozen of them....and boy oh boy were they yummy. Here is the sauce recipe she would use for the ravioli's

2 ½ tbsp olive oil
1 med onion
1 ½ lbs hamburger
1 large can tomato juice
2 cloves garlic
1 19 fluid oz tomato juice
1 can tomato paste
1 lb sliced mushrooms
pinch red basil, sage, parsley
salt, pepper, oregano

In large pot brown the hamburger, onion, olive oil and garlic. Add the tomato juice, spices and tomato paste and mushrooms. Fill the small can of tomato paste with water and add to the
sauce. Cook for a few hours until sauce thickens. Italian sausage, ground veal and chicken can also be added while the sauce is simmering. Serve with salad and warm garlic bread.
